Twittercism: Twitter Introduces Lists – Now, Can We Kill Off #followfriday For Good?

Twitter has started rolling out a new lists feature that allows users to compile useful groupings of tweeps and share them. This is a feature that third party applications like Seesmic and Tweetdeck have offered for some time. Twitter has basically standardized the function for app developers and provided an API that could help all parties.
Shea Bennett of Twittercism poses the question: can we finally get rid of #followfriday. Shea might be onto something, however, one shouldn't overlook the personal nature of #followfriday. It's not just about finding followers. Many use the meme to publicly recognize others and engage them.
Will we see #followfriday disappear, stay the same or become something different? What do you think. Feel free to let us all know by leaving a comment.
